Hollywood Chooses Steve Baker & Taxi's Damon Escott

Taxi's Damon Escott is co-directing with Steve Baker an Australian short film, ‘The Apprentice’, that will be part of a new comedy feature being produced by Peter Farrelly (Producer behind hits such as Dumb & Dumber and There’s Something About Mary) and Charles B. Wessler, ‘The Apprentice‘.

The Apprentice is a dark comedy being shot in an abandoned hospital starring American actor Anton Yelchin (Star Trek, Terminator Salvation), and local stars Shane Jacobson (Kenny, Charlie and Boots) and Colin Lane (Lano and Woodley).

Australian stars including Hugh Jackman and Naomi Watts are among the actors involved in the other short films, along with Kate Winslet, Sam Rockwell, Justin Long, Julianne Moore, Liev Schreiber, Anna Faris, Elizabeth Banks, Gerard Butler, Johnny Knoxville and more.

”Peter [Farrelly] and I are very excited about ‘The Apprentice‘, our only Australian contribution to the project. Steve’s script is both disturbing and hysterically funny. It is unique and will stand out from all the other short films in the movie. Steve and Damon are terrific filmmakers. We have an amazing team assembled for our movie and these guys fit right in”, Wessler said.

The short will be delivered to the US producers in May, and the full film is expected to be completed by the end of the American summer for a late 2010 release.
